Internationally renowned Scottish composer, Sir James MacMillan, has written an extraordinary collection of motets, known as the Strathclyde Motets, burning with faith, refracting the language of the great Renaissance composers through a contemporary prism and the inflections of Scottish folk music. These are the superb successors to fellow Scot Robert Ramsey’s three exquisite motets composed in the first years of the 17^th century while organist at Trinity College, Cambridge.
