The Australian World Orchestra returns in 2025 for Mahlerfest | Mahler 4 & 5, conducted by Alexander Briger — a gala night presenting Mahler’s matchless symphonies back-to-back in one epic concert.
Experience the radiant melodies of Mahler’s Symphony No. 4, with its delicate orchestration and subtle hints of unease, followed by the rich contrasts of Symphony No. 5 — a journey from darker tones to moments of calm, including the famous Adagietto.
Mahlerfest | Mahler 4 & 5 offers a powerful progression from innocence to experience, as these vital works move from memoir to poem and ultimately culminate in a tribute to Alma — the woman who would later become Mahler’s wife. The concert will showcase the immense skill of Australia’s only national orchestra — featuring accomplished musicians from both local and international ensembles, and led by the Australian World Orchestra’s artistic director, Alexander Briger.
