In this final Mostly Mozart for 2024, Howard Penny (ANAM Head of Strings) directs the ANAM Orchestra through works from the early and late stages of both Mozart and Schubert’s lives.
Opening the gateway to Mozart’s world, the Overture from The Magic Flute serves as a captivating prelude before the dramatic prowess of his Symphony No. 25. Written when he was just 17, this brooding symphony showcases Mozart’s ability to infuse profound expression in his compositions with its intricate score and sense of urgency and depth.
Also written when he was a teenager, Schubert’s commanding Symphony No.3 rounds out this performance. A radiant display of the composer’s youthful exuberance, the joyous energy of the finale paired with the power of the ANAM Orchestra will leave a smile on the face of everyone throughout the Elisabeth Murdoch Hall.
