Witness ‘one of the most exciting violinists in the world’ (Süddeutsche Zeitung) in a one-night-only recital.
Experience an extraordinary evening with acclaimed German-American virtuoso and GRAMMY® Award winner, Augustin Hadelich, as he graces the Elisabeth Murdoch Hall stage. Revered for his awe-inspiring technique, profound interpretations, and ethereal resonance, Hadelich’s performance transcends the ordinary; as noted by The Washington Post, ‘The essence of Hadelich’s playing is beauty.’ With a repertoire that spans collaborations with preeminent American orchestras and global luminaries such as the Berliner Philharmoniker, Concertgebouworkest, and NHK Symphony Orchestra Tokyo, Hadelich’s artistry knows no bounds.
About the concert
In his only Australian recital, witness Hadelich up close and personal as he takes listeners on a remarkable journey through luminous masterpieces, performing Bach’s Partita No.3 in E and American composer David Lang’s contemplative Mystery Sonatas.
A historic moment unfolds as the resonant works of African-American composer Coleridge-Taylor Perkinson’s Blue/s Forms come to life for the very first time in Australia. Originally a tribute to Sanford Allen, the first African-American violinist to play in the New York Philharmonic, this composition evokes jazz-infused melodies from its first note, marking a groundbreaking debut for Melbourne Recital Centre’s 15th birthday celebration.
Post-Concert Talk
Following this extraordinary performance, Augustin Hadelich joins Melbourne Recital Centre’s Director of Programming, Marshall McGuire, in the ground floor foyer for a 20-minute discussion about his artistry, career, and more. Take a seat and enjoy this perfect conclusion to your musical experience.
