Anja & Zlatna perform and preserve the beauty of traditional melodies, fusing them with the structural architecture of Baroque and practices of 17th century and folk languages. Their original approach to instrumentation features the harpsichord in a leading role. Sometimes one hears guitars, cimbalom or accordion, together painting rich sonic textures and fresh musical delights.
The ensemble’s performance in Primrose Potter Salon seeks to celebrate dance, inviting audiences to dance in three or seven-eight, dance bare-footed or with friends. Dance alone or in a circle, dance on the grass, listen to the brass! Dance in the rain, or dance for the king, dance to win her hand or just enjoy its swing. Or, simply – dance to mend your heart. Enjoy an in-depth journey through a range of distinctive musical cultures from the Balkans and beyond.
