Join Affinity Quartet as they perform a program of innovative treasures for string quartet by Haydn and Bartók. Opening with Haydn’s String Quartet Op.76, No.3 in C ‘Emperor’, witness this ground-breaking composition which was lauded at the time as being ‘full of invention, fire, good taste, and new effects.’ At the turn of the twentieth century, Bartók’s first String Quartet looks back to Beethoven’s monumental String Quartet in C-sharp minor, Op.131, to forge a visceral, haunting musical language that he would expand upon over the next thirty years.
Be transported to an era of artistic brilliance and musical ingenuity as Affinity Quartet perform revolutionary masterpieces. Representing the next generation of Australian chamber music, Affinity Quartet have performed across prestigious venues such as St Martin in the Fields, Pollack Hall, and Sony Auditorium. Do not miss Affinity Quartet’s final performance in Melbourne before they return to Europe to study under esteemed Austrian violinist, Günter Pichler, founder of the renowned Alban Berg Quartet.
