Acord’s fourth concert in the 2025 season 31 August: Wise and Foolish
The starting point for this concert is the Parable of the Wise and Foolish Virgins which appears in chapter 25 of the Gospel of Matthew. One 11th century response to this was Sponsus, an extraordinary bilingual musical dramatisation of the parable, one of the innovative creations of the great Abbey of St Martial in Limoges. This extensive work forms the first part of the concert while the remainder features a range of works responding either wisely or foolishly to certain life events.
As always the music is remarkable, the readings are pithy, the images are glorious and the refreshments to follow, topical. Of course there will be cake.
We hope you can come.
Sunday August 31, 11am – 12.00
