The National Boys Choir of Australia will be auditioning boys in grades 1 and 2 for its Term 1, 2019 intake. Auditions are being held on the Choir’s official Audition Day on Saturday, June 16 2018 by appointment.
Recognised for over 50 years, the National Boys Choir of Australia is a not for profit organisation that has performed extensively both nationally and internationally, regularly with the Melbourne Symphony, Opera Australia, in the acclaimed Qantas ‘I Still Call Australia Home’ advertisements and at Vision Australia’s Carols by Candlelight in Melbourne. Current choristers performing in the National Boys Choir of Australia also reap the intrinsic benefits of being part of the choir.
Recently, a report by CNBC.com revealed that singing in a choir could be the ‘new exercise’ as presented in a new book by behavioural science author Daniel H. Pink. In his book, Pink argues that “choral singing calms the heart and boosts endorphin levels. It improves lung function. It increases pain thresholds and reduces the need for pain medication.”
Some of the National Boys Choir of Australia’s past choristers include Principal Conductor for Adelaide Symphony Orchestra Nicholas Carter, Mannheim-based opera singer Christopher Diffey-Wilson, Australian tour manager, record producer and studio engineer Nikita Miltiadou and international award-winning ballroom dancer Nathan Ryan.
June 16 will provide boys in Melbourne the opportunity to audition for the National Boys Choir of Australia, inviting families to be part of this established and esteemed choral community.
Auditions will be held at the National Boys Choir of Australia office and studios at 3/9 Pilgrim Court, Ringwood 3134 Victoria on Saturday 16 June. Bookings are essential.
