Hear glorious music for Advent and Christmas, featuring the premiere of Calvin Bowman’s, The Bells, for choir and organ.
The Melbourne Bach Chamber Choir will perform choral works from the 17th to the 21st century, including magnificent polychoral works for brass and choir by Gabrielli and Praetorius, and the sublime unaccompanied Christmas motets by Poulenc.
Two movements of JSBach’s original Magnificat, along with music by other composers, including Rheinberger and Sweelinck, will lead to the performance of John Rutter’s delightful Gloria, for choir, organ and brass.
This year’s choral scholars will also be highlighted in the concert.
Conducted by Rick Prakhoff, and joined by top Australian organist, Calvin Bowman, on the beautiful organ of St Patrick’s Cathedral, this promises to be a glorious way to begin the festive season.
