Gloriana Chamber Choir presents a compelling selection of Marian-inspired works in anticipation of the Christmas season. Hildegard’s ecstatic, flowing lines forms a prelude to a group of polychoral works in the Venetian tradition – which we present with period brass. Also included are a number of modern classics – such as Bax’s soaring, virtuosic Mater ora Filium, Villette’s exquisite Hymne à la Vierge and Biebl’s moving and much-loved setting of Ave Maria.
