Lyric Opera of Melbourne: Double Bill

March 14, 2015 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

$35 – $49.50

Lyric Opera of Melbourne starts 2015 with a bang, presenting a double bill of comic masterpieces.

Ravel’s L’heure Espagnole (Spanish Time) is a delicious farce accompanied by the tick of metronomes and sultry Spanish dances. While her husband is out repairing the town clocks, this housewife moves heaven and earth to get a clock of her own.

Katrina Waters, Nigel Huckle and Shoumendu Ganguly make their Lyric debuts in the Ravel, joined by Raphael Wong and Daniel Sinfield.

In Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi, the Donati family outdo the Kardashians in how far they will go to get their hands on their dead relative’s money. James Payne returns to Lyric in the title role alongside the formidable Kerrie Bolton, with Rebecca Rashleigh and Nick Renfree-Marks as the lovers, and a whole stable of Lyric artists.

Sung in English, these operatic riots will be brought to the stage by Jane Millet and Nicholas Cannon, and conducted by Lyric’s Artistic director, Pat Miller.
