Joining forces with Kristian Chong, Principal Horn of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Nicolas Fleury, and acclaimed violinist Brigid Coleridge from the US-based Merz Trio showcase their talents in two powerful compositions.
Written in 1982, Ligeti wrote his formidable Trio as a companion to Brahms’ Horn Trio one of the few other examples in the genre, marked Hommage à Brahms, and is a wild journey through its four movements, delivering every gamut of human emotion like its counterpart. Brahms’ trio is one of the canonic works of the chamber music repertoire, showing the vulnerability of human emotion in every way.
A rare chance to hear these companion works played by three consummate musicians.
