Yi Wang was born in Sichuan, China and started learning violin at the age of five with his father, who is also a violinist. Yi came to Australia in 1997 to join the Australian Chamber Orchestra. He was Principal First Violin with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra for six years before joining Orchestra Victoria as Principal Violin, and now Deputy Concertmaster.

Steinway Artist Jerry Wong has been described by Pulitzer Prize-winning critic Martin Bernheimer as “eloquent…sensitivity and a finely-honed sense of style”; the Orange County Register praised him for “clean technique, forthright sound and a straight forward approach to classical textures”. He has performed throughout the US, Europe and Asia in such prestigious settings as Kravis Center in West Palm Beach, National Concert Hall of Taipei, National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C. and Tokyo Opera City Hall.
