Melba Hall Lunch Hour Concert Series: David Soo

March 4 @ 1:10 pm - 2:00 pm

The Eighteenth-Century Keyboard Virtuoso

Ludwig van Beethoven and Muzio Clementi were arguably two of the most influential piano virtuosos of the eighteenth-century. These virtuosos composed some of the most demanding music for piano, featuring piano techniques which became widely used in the romantic period. This recital opens with the Irishman John Field’s rarely heard piano sonata in A Major. Following this, David performs Beethoven’s grand and dramatic piano sonata in C Minor, nicknamed the ‘Pathetique’ opus 13. The recital concludes with Clementi’s jovial and light-hearted piano sonata in G Major.
