Since his last show-stopping performance at Melbourne Recital Centre eight years ago, Steven Isserlis has continued his world domination as one of the most in-demand cellists globally, with audiences and reviewers alike praising the beauty and emotion he emits from either one of his two Stradavarius celli.
In this program of cello and piano masterworks, Isserlis, ‘the lyrical, expressive soloist’ (The Guardian U.K.) partners with Charles Owen for an intensely passionate display of artistry in what is the only opportunity to see the British cellist in recital during this Australian visit.
Filled with romantic and mid-twentieth century music, audiences can experience some of the greatest works in Isserlis’ canon, including Beethoven, Brahms, and Martinů’s respective second Sonatas.
