For twenty years evolutionary geneticist Jenny Graves, a Distinguished Professor at La Trobe University, had a dream of creating a new telling of the story of creation from the perspective of science. Now the Heidelberg Choral Society is bringing this dream to reality in the premiere of Origins of the Universe, of Life, of Species, of Humanity. Jenny and poet Leigh Hay, both choristers with Heidelberg Choral Society, have written the libretto, with music specially commissioned from Australian composer Nicholas Buc.
The world premiere performance of Origins with the 100-voice Heidelberg Choral Society, orchestra and renowned soloists, will be conducted by Peter Bandy.
Origins is inspired by cosmology, evolutionary genetics, anthropology and ecology. It tells the story of the origins of life from the Big Bang to the emergence of humanity, and celebrates the role of science in understanding and protecting our planet.
Don’t miss this opportunity to experience a unique fusion of science and music!
