Chad Kelly and Josephine Vains invite you to join them for a performance on period instruments of Beethoven’s Sonatas for cello and keyboard. Playing on historical instruments in the exquisite acoustic of the Hanson Dyer Hall, they delve into the revolutionary and rhetorical world of early and middle period Beethoven with a fresh and improvisatory approach to this beloved music. In the spirit of the Classical orators, Chad and Josephine place connection with audience at the centre of their music-making, “to make themselves the masters of the hearts of their listeners, to arouse or still their passions, and to transport them.” (JJ Quantz).
