Twenty years of dynamic composition and performance
Young guitarist/composer Brett Thompson was the inaugural recipient of the Australian Art Orchestra’s Young Artist in Residence program and during a six month period developed and rehearsed a series of graphic scored works exploring meeting points between composition and improvisation.
The Australian Art Orchestra is one of Australia’s most significant contemporary music ensembles. Now in its 20th year it has built an unparalleled reputation for the breadth and quality of its output. The AAO’s work constantly seeks to stretch genres and break down the barriers separating disciplines, forms and cultures.
Brett is joined by AAO Artistic Director Peter Knight, Callum G’Froerer, Joe Talia, Matthias Schack-Arnott, Jon Smeathers, Carl Dewhurst and James Rushford for this ensemble performance.
This project has been assisted by the Australian Government through the Australia Council for the Arts, its arts funding and advisory body.
Presented by Melbourne Recital Centre and Australian Art Orchestra.
