- Lachenmann is one of the most distinctive, inventive and admired composers of our time, and he stunned the world with his musical joke Marche fatale in 2018. For anyone looking for meaning in this work, Lachenmann responds: “My ‘Marche’ says ‘the situation is hopeless, but not serious.’”
