…let all my senses spread out and touch this world at thy feet, like a raincloud of July hung low with its burden of unshed showers.
Rabindranath Tagore
Uģis Prauliņš’ spectacular Mass for Riga Cathedral forms the backbone of this extraordinary program of music from Spain, Estonia, Sweden, Italy and Slovakia. Movements from the Mass are interspersed with exquisite motets: Handl’s Ecce quomodo; Palestrina’s ethereal vision Sicut Cervus and Tarrodi’s setting of Yeats’ ‘The Falling of the Leaves’. The program tapestry culminates in Ešenvalds’ joyous setting of Rabindranath Tagore’s words.
